Yuji Naka Tweets…about me!

June 11, 2011 in Blog by Sonic Remix

So, in a fit of awesomeness, I camped out on Twitter when this tweet comes in about 12:45 AM my time from Yuji Naka’s Twitter:

AWESOME.

Someone on Sonadow Online asked if I met Jun Senoe while I was at Sonic Boom. And my answer was, although I wanted to meet him, meeting and talking with my friend Svend Joscelyne took higher priority. Musical heroes are awesome, but friends are legendary.

I got videos, audio, and pictures of the Sonic Boom event posted up on SonicRadio.net if you guys wanna see it.

The Sonic Boom event…well, check out TSSZNews.com for most of the updates concerning that. The story I wanna tell now started 11 years ago.

Back in 1999, I owned a website called SonicTeam.com.

What, don’t believe me? ARCHIVE.ORG!
http://web.archive.org/web/19990508013026/http://sonicteam.com/ http://web.archive.org/web/19991013111635/http://sonicteam.com/
http://web.archive.org/web/20000301050444/http://www.sonicteam.com/

Now back then, the only thing people knew was that SonicTeam.com was a fan site (and a crappy one at that).
So one day, in March of 2000, I came home from school, and found this box sitting in the hallway. I opened it up, and it was FILLED with Sonic Adventure plushies…and a letter. This letter: http://www.sonadow.com/Proof.jpg
Can you imagine how excited I was?! A letter from the creator himself! So naturally I e-mailed him back, saying ‘YES’. Hell I didn’t ask for anything in return; I’m not one of those people who demands money from the creator of my hero! (As a matter of fact, I was glad they didn’t sue me, like SEGA did to AJ Freda/SSNTails over SegaSonic.net) So after working with Keith Palmer of Sonic Team USA to get the deal closed out (Getting forms notarized for proper transference of the domain from me to them), they sent me a WHOLE bunch of plushies and toys as a way of saying thank you. People have seen the sea of  plushies.

Now here we are. June of 2011. It’s been over 11 years folks, since those fateful days. I was at Sonic Boom, talkin with Sonic Retro staff, when I saw HIM. Yuji Naka and the Sonic Team were there, checking out the venue. I had the letter with me, and I followed after him, until I had his attention by flat out handing him the letter. I didn’t know what to say at the time, because of language barriers, and i was shaking. BADLY. I was that excited and nervous. I took the letter, and he and his team looked over the letter for a bit, before he realized who I was. They started talking more excitedly in Japanese to each other, before Mr Naka actually pulled out his camera and wanted his picture with ME!!! Then he and the rest off the Sonic Team shook my hand and thanked me. (Pix or it didn’t happen: http://yfrog.com/h01ugxagj )

So there you guys have it. An AWESOME night for me. Sure, there was a LOT more of the event that I loved, but that was top of the list.

Lebron Sonic Fan Film Production

June 7, 2011 in Blog by Sonic Remix

-Lebron Starts Sonic Fan Film Production-

So, in case anyone missed it, Eddie Lebron started production on the Sonic Fan Film. We’ve seen pictures of it, and we’re rather impressed with it so far. One of the pics includes a female GUN soldier….AWESOME.

-Sonic #229 cover revealed at HeroCon-

So if you been to HeroCon in North Carolina this weekend, you probably went to that Archie panel, that included Sonic comic staffers Ian Flynn, Jon Gray, Jim Amash, and Paul Kaminski. Also in attendance was something interesting, what looked like the preview of the cover of Sonic #229, featuring Super Sonic. HMM. Archie, you tease.

-SEGA Aware of Shenmue 3 demand-
So our ‘glorious’ leader of SEGA America/Europe, Mike Hayes, has let the world know through CVG that SEGA KNOWS that fans want Shenmue 3…and promptly follows up with the message that there is currently NOT one in development. Well…what was the point of that? To tell the fans to shut up, it’s not happening?

-TSSZ Article on Microsoft at E3-
Looking for some views on Microsoft’s E3 appearence. Check out the article here:

Mario & Sonic 2012 Olympics release date

June 5, 2011 in Blog by Sonic Remix

-Mario & Sonic-

Odd thing, this one. Mario and Sonic, the newest installation, comes out on the Wii this November, around the same timeframe as Sonic Generations. But the 3DS version won’t be coming out till next year…HUH? Why? I don’t get that logic at all…

Ken Penders and the Pointless Lawsuit

June 3, 2011 in Blog by Sonic Remix

-Ken Penders Lawsuit on SEGA/EA-

What a bright genius this guy is! First he tries to sue Archie for money, realize he’s not gonna get any from them anytime soon, and now he goes after SEGA/EA for money.
He’s claiming direct AND indirect copyright infringement, AND claims Bioware (now under EA) approached Penders regarding Sonic Chronicles. Really? REALLY? Dude, you were develpong character for the SONIC COMIC BOOK. OMG, you were creating properties for SEGA, and now you want them for yourself? NO TAKE BACKS!

-Ian Flynn Interview in Nintendo Power-

Yea, Ian must be living it large (in fame only of course), to be interviewed by Nintendo Power about the upcoming Genesis arc in the Sonic comics. They also provide a 3-page preview…awesome. Genesis looks like its gonna be…okay? I hope it’s not boring. First 3 pages just looks like….rehashes of fan stuff. Great art, dull start.

-SEGA Assumes They’re Pleasing Fans-

David Corless, Sonic Brand Manager of SEGA Europe, made the bold statement that Sega has ‘caught up with what the fan base wants from Sonic’.
Deeming Sonic Colors and Sonic the Hedgehog 4 a success, SEGA seems eager to pat themselves on the back, despite fact that not too many fans were happy with Sonic 4 all around. Sonic Colors, yes. Sonic 4, no.
Um, Mr. Corless, you might wanna do a little more research there….
